Introduction
Victoria E-mailed her story to Purple Sage Paranormal
on March 31, 2011. She had contacted several other organizations such as ours and had no response.
PSP discovered in our first off-site interview the legitmacy of Victoria's claim and moved on to an intial
site visit. The photgraphs taken during the site visit contained what appeared to be a hooded entity.
PSP decided to return and investigate the following weekend.
We involved a psychic intuitive on this investigation,
a first for PSP. The insight into what was happening around us helped, but not just the team, it also helped
Victoria understand and validate her experiences.

First Contact
March 31, 2011
We received the E-mail from Victoria in regards to paranormal activity that has been occuring at her home in
the Serafina area of New Mexico and sought our help to validate the unusual activity on the premises.
Prior
to 2008, Victoria had been a graduate student at Purdue University in West Layfayette, Indiana. Two semesters
before graduation, she became ill and was rushed to the hospital for emergency surgery. Once there, the pain was so
excruciating that she was able to be given Morphine. But, within two minutes, another nurse came in and gave her Diloted...a
pain medicine 5 times the potency of the Morphine she had already received. Moments later Victoria went into
cardiac arrest and was clinically dead for 5 minutes and forty-two seconds. Victoria did not see any
lights or people as some have reported after a Near-Death Experience...only that there was no pain.
"This
is when the paranormal activity started."
"The first sign was the television set turning on
in the living room and the channels changing rapidly. My dog would run down the hallway chasing things that no one could
see and would become very agitated, which is out of character for him. There were certain rooms my cat would not step
foot in, and she would stick to my side like glue. While having lunch one day with my daughter in the kitchen, a loaf
of bread that was on the counter flew four feet off the counter into the living room."
Victoria moved back
to New Mexico in 2008 to be closer to her family. Victoria sees a women wandering the house. She feels the woman is sad and
looking for someone. She also sees two children between the ages of 7 and 9 years old. The entity that concerns
Victoria is a dark figure that seems to lurk in the closet. Victoria's daughter has seen a little boy at the door
to Victoria's bedroom and her father has seen a woman in a hospital gown with a gash on the side of her head and also
the dark figure. Victoria's mother has not seen any entities, but feels the ghosts are attached to Victoria and
not the house.
"I have been touched, scratched and caressed."
"I have
woken up with my hair braided and the hair rollers taken out of my hair and neatly stacked on my dresser. I have
heard my name being called when no one is here and have heard the sound of faraway voices that seem to be at a party
with large number of guests. I can hear the music and the clinking of glasses in toast and laughter accompanied by conversation.
I don't want to hear or see this anymore. We have blessed our house with sage on numerous occasions and it seems
to work for some time, but then out of the blue it starts again. I don't sleep because they won't let me,
and I feel not only physically tired, but mentally tired as well."

Off-Site Interview
April 9, 2011 9:40 a.m.

Present: Roger Barton, Marlane Gabel-Barton, Denice MacDonald(Psychic/Intuitive),
Victoria and her mother.
Interview was video recorded for varification and review.

Denice noted feeling heaviness in her chest immediately upon meeting Victoria.
Narrative by Marlane from questions asked:
Victoria received her Master's Degree in Science and Biology from
Purdue University. She is also a Marine Corps veteran. She completed two tours of duty in Iraq and one tour of
duty in Afghanistan as a medic. Victoria is currently continuing her education at a local University.
While
Roger asked questions of Victoria, Denice envisioned a woman with long blond hair in a nightshirt
or gown with a blue sash or ribbon. Victoria confirmed that was one of the entities present at home. Denice also
saw a Victorian attired woman standing by a window...very severe looking. Victoria confirmed this entity
as well. Denice also was envisioning a boy in coveralls and a little girl clutching a toy
to her chest, which was also confirmed by Victoria. The last entity seen by Denice was described as cloaked
or hooded. Victoria also confirmed this and added that the one time she saw his face it looked like melted
wax.
Victoria's father, also a veteran, has seen the hooded figure and recently a women in a hospital
gown. Victoria's daughter has seen the little boy only once. Her mother does not see them but has "feelings."
Victoria had a brother who passed at 33 in 2001 from a heart attack while serving in the US Army Delta Force in Nigeria.
Denice commented that Victoria's keys would go missing and it was the kids doing it. The kids were being
"pranksters." Victoria said she did have this happen to her, but didn't know they were the ones responsible.
The EMF readings spiked during the interview:
10:10 A.M.= 1.4-1.6
10:15 A.M.= 3.5-4.5

10:30 to 11:00 A.M.=0
Roger remarked after the interview that from 10:10 to 10:30 he was feeling
heaviness in his chest, shaky, sweaty and lightheaded. Marlane had noticed Roger's hands shaking during that same
period of time.
Initial Site Visit
April
9, 2011 1:00 PM
Serafina, NM
The home was moved from Oklahoma to rural New Mexico by
Victoria's father and mother. The back of the house faces Starvation Peak. The legend surrounding the peak
was told to us by Victoria.
"The area where we currently reside was a rather large Indian camp."
The men had left to go on a hunting party leaving the women and children behind. A wagon train
on the Santa Fe Trail came through and slaughtered almost everyone. Before the slaughter was over, the hunting party
returned and counter attacked. The travelers retreated to the peak. The Indians starved them. Because
anyone caught coming down the peak was either killed or tortured for the rest to see.
Director's
Note: We researched this account and found verifying stories; however, we also found an account from 1710 that
reversed the roles. At this time, all of New Mexico was part of Mexico and not the United States. The Santa Fe Trail
wound its way south through Las Vegas past Serafina and Starvation Peak to Santa Fe. The trail was ripe for the picking and
a band of Comanches regularly raided travelers.
Late one fall, a band of Comaches attacked a group of settlers heading
north from Santa Fe killing many and stealing their goods. The next spring a contingent of Mexican soldiers, augmented
by angry Sante Fean's, chased the Comanches from their hiding place at Starvation Peak across eastern New Mexico finally
killing the last of them in western Oklahoma.
We asked Victoria if she knew
of anyone else in the area experiencing paranormal activity...she did not.
Roger took pictures throughout the house.
As he was walking down the hallway, he turned into the bathroom and felt a presence. He called it electrifying...like
the atmosphere was charged with static electricty. He began taking pictures. Keep in mind that the flash was disabled,
nor was the light on and the bathroom did not have a window to provide a source of light. Even though it was midday, the bathroom
was dark. Below is the series of pictures. The first picture of the entity is face to face, Roger is almost six feet
tall, and the camera is aimed straight ahead. It shows a face with a point at the top of it's head. The last
picture shows a light source eminating from behind and below the shower curtain. E-mail Roger at PSP here

The Investigation
Victoria's Home
Serafina,
NM
4/16-4/17/2011
10:00P.M.-1:30 A.M.
Present: Roger Barton, Marlane Gabel-Barton,
Denice MacDonald and Victoria
All parties are in the parents bedroom. Roger stands in the doorway to the bathroom
filming nightshot video. There is a static video recorder at the door to the closet. The EMF meter and digital voice
recorder are turned on. Victoria, Denice and Marlane are sitting on the bed.
We typically try to make
contact via Light Source Communication. This involves two "Maglite" flashlights barely turned off and
perched on a stable surface. We do not touch or hold the lights, nor are they on the same piece of furniture we are
sitting on or connected to. We ask the spirit(s) to answer questions by turning the light on for yes and leaving the
light off for no. Throughout the night, the investigators and Victoria asked a series of questions to try to establish
why the entity was still around. We did not get many responses during the first thirty minutes. Roger kept turning and
filming into the bathroom. He stated he keeps feeling the same type energy from last Saturday's site visit
behind him. Denice, our intuitive, said she felt the entity was intimidated by Roger and suggested he leave the room, which
he did. The reponses started after he left.
At 31 minutes into the investigation Denice asked, "Did
you pass from your own hands?" We recorded an EVP response to the question on our digital voice
recorder. The response was "Help me, helllppp meee.........shit." The voice was adult male.
Additional responses over the next hour established that the entity's name was Dennis, that he
died of a heart attck at the age of 33 and his death was prior to 2001. We also established that he met Victoria when
she passed. He had a girlfriend named Connie that passed before him. She had red hair and blue green eyes.
Victoria has red hair and green eyes. In reponse to: "Does Victoria look like your girlfriend?", he answered
yes. We also established that the entity "Dennis" was not here to protect Victoria, but for Victoria to help him.
We asked the entity if he was who Roger photographed in the bathroom the previous Saturday, to which he responded yes. We
asked if we startled him and he said yes. We asked if he wanted us to help him move on and also if he wanted to go home.
Both replies were yes. At the same time, on the digital voice recorder, we caught an EVP
of a male voice saying, "It's a mess." He also confirmed that
he was not Victoria's deceased brother and was not a patient of Victoria when she was a medic serving in the Marines
in Iraq and Afghanistan.
At the beginning of the investigation, we had the thermometer on the bed and it registered
80F. At an hour into the investigation, Marlane felt a extreme temperature drop to the right of her in and around
a rocking chair in the corner. The temperature dropped to 71.6, 69.4, 69.2..."I then put the thermometer on the chair
next to the bed, because it felt cold specifically in that area. The temperature continued to drop down to 68F. I checked
the window and it was open a crack. I shut the window and the temperature went up to 71F. During the temperature
drop, Roger was monitoring the 4 static cameras at the DVR and noticed a "blue ball" of light moving into
and out of the chair. We also caught this on a still photo(above).
We then regrouped in the kitchen area and discussed
our experiences with Roger. Roger promptly stated out loud..."Sorry Dennis, I apologize for startling you." We
moved into Victoria's bedroom.
The energy level in Victoria's bedroom was intense ....both flashlights were
going off in response to questions. Apparently Roger's apology worked ...Dennis was even answering his questions.
We settled to the floor in a circle trying to invoke the help of deceased family members of Dennis, plus all the Saints
and Angels in order to help him move on. The more we prayed for him, the more the flashilights jumped on and off...a regular
light show. As we were praying, the static camera caught a blue orb moving sporadically left and right between the investigators.
Denice finally asked the critical question," Don't you see the light?" Immediately both flashlight turned off and
did not go back on. Did he leave? We completed our investigation at 1:30 A.M.. A lot had happened over the course
of three and half hours...we were all physically and emotionally exhausted.
Conclusions
Victoria
Going into the investigation that night, I felt a bit uneasy. I kept
getting questions as to who you guys were. I remember when you were first setting up the equipment and I was at the
counter with my daughter, I freaked out a bit because I felt a breath next to my ear along with a low growl. While
in the master bedroom, I remember when Roger first had the camera, and he as standing in front of the bathroom door,
I saw the dark shadow darting behind him very low to the ground. I kept seeing the shadow moving all over the room.
I also felt light touches on my hair almost as if it was being stroked. I think Denice also said she felt the same
thing. I kept feeling that our friend was standing behind me a few times since I got the sensation of my arm being touched.
Overall, I felt that there was something in the house that made me feel uneasy. After we finished wrapping things up,
I felt a difference in the house. As for the activity, we have some newcomers but they do not seem to bother me as much
as Dennis did. They move things around, but when I ask them to put them back where they were, they seem to
comply. There is one that reminds me of Dennis in the sense that she hides. I see the dark shadow and once in
a while I catch glimpses of a female with red hair. She is very sad and I pick up on that. For the most
part, I have realized that ever since crossing over and coming back, I have touched a part of their world that will always
remain with me.
Marlane
Why are some spirits left behind? Why don't
all souls pass directly to heaven? Do some spirits make it to different levels? Are all spirits that are able to
communicate demonic in nature? Paranormal groups classify spirits into four groups: residual, intelligent,
demonic and poltergist. Your belief system in part will determine your answers to the above questions.
Someone asked why we are so passionate about the paranormal. We have seen people that are truly scared of what they
see, hear, smell and feel and have no logical explanation for what is happening to and around them. We are
empathetic to these folks. Most people are able to recall at least one paranormal event within their lifetime.
What about the people that experience paranormal events on a regular basis and fear the entity(ies) or the act of seeking
help? I noticed after the investigation a change in demeanor in regards to Victoria. There is unexplained activity in her
home, but I believe that she now is comforted by the fact that others experienced it at well. She mentioned that she hoped
that by sharing her story it will help others that may be experiencing paranormal activity of their own.
Denice (intuitive
commentary)
Pre Investigation
The intent of having a psychic medium present during an investigation
helps to validate what the recipient is feeling as well as interpret some base understanding behind the spiritual encounter--good
or bad. But, as a psychic medium, you never know what senses or feelings come through on an initial contact. In
this scenario, I felt quite connected to Victoria (suffice the heaviness and fear I felt upon our first encounter).
There is no doubt spirits and entities are attracted to her openness and strong aura (life energy)--but she, like us, was
not quite sure of the intentions of the existing spiritual entities in her home (sacred in and of itself) and around
her.
During this initial encounter, I had no difficulty seeing or interpreting the initial four entities (young
boy and girl, woman in nightgown and the stoic woman at the window) that Victoria and others have seen and felt. The
dark hooded entity gave me the impression that it preferred to lurk in the darkness and move in the shadows. I initially felt
that he coat-tailed Victoria on her way back to the physical world from a much murkier existence. Suffice to say, he
landed in an environment much better than where he had come from--albeit scared and confused. More than likely,
his intent was to follow her to the light, if he could. (we find out later that Victoria resembles this entitie's
dead girlfriend)
Also, I felt that there was a heirachy of sorts for all the entities that reside at Victoria's
home. That is, the hooded entity was the strongest and the most interactive--however, the children and the woman in
the nighgown also proved to be active entities but I didn't feel that they were intrusive--in fact, they may
well be able to live collaboratively with Victoria and her family.
Investigation
Like most psychic mediums,
we prepare for our on-site-investigations by performing prayers for guidance and protection. It is our intent (whether
spiritual or religously) to invoke those than can help or aid in freeing, liberating and helping spirits move on. During
our invocation, I definitely felt our collective energy (suffice to say it is always good to have 3-4 individuals with you
on an investigation) and our potential ability to engage, interpret and aid the entity(ies) into moving on.
It
was interesting that the dark hooded entity was the only entity to come through during our investigation. The feelings
were fast and furious--I could sense the anxiety and excitement by this entity--the fact that it could talk to us made it
clear that the entity was confused but definitely feeling at home at Victoria's house. At this juncture, he was
quite happy to be able to interact and engage with us. There was no doubt that this entity spoke to us in many ways--through
Victoria, through me and most importantly with the interaction with the mag-lights.
Where I wish that I had
pushed more was during the "girlfriend" disclosure. We discussed and concluded that the hooded entitie's
girlfriend had predeceased him. On hindsight, I had a feeling that he may have been instrumental in her demise--perhaps
not directly, but potentially indirectly. It was alo interesting that Victoria's father had an image of the girlfriend
just that morning before the evening investigation. I felt remorse and sadness from the entity--but full disclosure
regarding the girlfriend would aid in determining why the entity did not go to the light or remained in a murky environment.
(unfinished business, not worthy of the light, etc.)
It was suggested to Victoria (and family) that the household
will continue to see additional spirits and entities--reason simply, Victoria is now herself a medium for spiritual interaction--entities
and spirits will actively be drawn to her. The family will need to be vigilant and protective of their environment.
Ongoing cleansing, group prayer as well as centering and protection prayers are highly recommended. Dealing with
entities or spirits that are playful or who do not interfere with daily living can live collaboratively with their hosts. It
was a pleasure to meet Victoria and her family--to help validate the entities in their environment, diffuse any fear
as well as aid in managing any future encounters.
